General Purpose: Reporting to the Dean, this position supports the creation, management and execution of communication strategies (including social media, email, advertising, marketing, editorial, and consumer-based) from the School of Music to is various constituencies. Develops and manages forward-looking communications in traditional and new media-both externally and internally-in order to enhance YSM/Yale's reputation and communicate YSM/Yale's messages. Serves as supervisor to Communications and Design staff and works closely with Media Production staff.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of experience in website design, production, marketing, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability in developing communications for a range of media. Ability to work with consultants in design, photography, or video. Ability to work with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Understanding of non-traditional media such as video, blogging and live-streamed discussions and performances.
- Demonstrated excellent writing skills. Ability to write for both print and online media. Demonstrated skills using online media for communications and/or marketing. Editorial judgment and ability to work under pressure and high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide leadership and influence change. Ability to think strategically and take personal initiative.
- Strong ability to evaluate and solve communications needs quickly. Proven ability to manage multiple projects to deadline amidst competing priorities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team structure.
- Demonstrated familiarity with advertising, marketing, and promotion as it related to music and concert presentations. Knowledge of classical music.
