The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is America’s foremost repertory company for chamber music, and one of eleven constituent members of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Through informative and entertaining educational programs; live, recorded, and televised performances; extensive commissioning; radio broadcasts; new music series; and young artists’ programs, CMS actively promotes a love and appreciation for a body of music that stands among the finest achievements of our civilization.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is seeking a Director of Education. This is a unique position that collaborates with the Executive Director, Artistic Directors, Board Members, and each department at CMS to further the mission of stimulating and supporting the appreciation, performance, and composition of chamber music.

The Director of Education oversees all aspects of the development and execution of 10 distinct and varied programs, ranging from family concerts designed for special-needs three-year-olds to in-depth lectures for musically savvy adult audiences. These programs reach 10,000 learners in person and many multiples of that online via 50+ events annually.

A successful candidate will possess mature judgment and knowledge of music education and the classical music industry. S/he will have previous experience with arts administration, concert and/or event production, and curriculum design and/or project development. Experience in direct music instruction is preferred, as is demonstrated knowledge of the NYC Department of Education. S/He must have exceptional skills in diplomacy, organizing, prioritizing, writing and public speaking, and must have the energy and enthusiasm to work long hours, evenings, and weekends.
